Pay Member Dues, Support Community
Hi, my name is Megan and I have been a Health and Wellness counselor for the Clark County Family YMCA for over three years now. I have been a member for more than six years. I first joined the YMCA at the recommendation of a relative who heard I was shopping around for gyms, and was looking for a workout partner. I had lost 30 pounds in a little over a year and a half by working out at home, but had become bored and wanted to join a gym to help me lose the last 15. After touring other gyms in the area, what made the Y stand out to me wasn't just the great facility, but the comfortable atmosphere. I also really liked the idea that if I had to pay a gym membership, I wanted it to go to a business that put the money back into the community by helping others, through a variety of scholarships and programs. I felt that by joining and paying dues I wasn't just helping myself, but others as well. I did manage to lose the last 15 pounds, but what I didn't expect to gain was a second home, complete with an extended family. Because that is what you get at the YMCA. Not just a building with a place to run on a rauny day, but a place to feel welcome, and wanted, full of people that are happy to see you, and that you are happy to see too. Either as a stay-at-home mom, or now as an employee, the Y gave me a place to look forward to going every morning. A place where I knew I'd walk out always feeling a little better than when I went in.

YMCA Staff Quotes
"I work at the Y because as a young single mom the Y was instrumental in helping me model core values to my children. It is an environment that encourages love, respect, honesty, responsibility and service as part of helping families focus on being the best they can be." JoAnne Sallia
"I work at the Y because I like being a part of a greater mission, one that fits in with my life's mission. It is also rewarding to know that what we do makes an impact on the lives of those we serve – yes, serve!" Renee Brouse
"I wanted to work for the YMCA because of the Christian background and now being an employee for years is like a big family with relatives and people who care about you as a person not just an employee." Amy Lowry
"I spent two weeks at Camp Collins and compeltely fell in love. I will always have a place in my heart for camp no matter where I end up in the Y." Chrystal "Bubbles" Castle
